All of my services include mild retouch...
If you have ever booked with me or seen my marketing materials, you know that all my services include mild retouching and some people may be like, "what is mild?" Well, I want my clients to still look like themselves so I do a mild skin smoothing, clothing alterations, stray hair removal, blemish removal, fine line removal, eyes/teeth brightening, lipstick removal (from teeth), exposure and saturation adjustments! That pretty much sums it up! I am not a magician and I am not for making my clients look like someone they're not!
However, I realized that I always talk about what I offer but I never show my clients or potential clients my retouching abilities! I mean you see the after image when I post, but seeing the raw image and the finished retouched image side by side is something I just don't post nor talk about! I mean it's not intentional, I just never thought about it. But, I think it is a part of my business that I need to showcase more and with that being said. I'm going to show you a before and after image from a recent session I did with entrepreneur, Ayanna Walters of God's Got Your Back (GGYB), a faith based apparel and accessories company!
In this before and after, I removed some stray hairs, brightened the image, increased the saturation, removed some fine lines across her forehead/nose, removed the lipstick from her teeth, brightened her teeth, closed the gap in her braids, and mildly smoothed her skin.
She still looks like herself! That's my goal, my goal is to always make sure my client's still look like themselves!
Side note: Another way to achieve a more polished look in your session and avoid a lot of post editing is to book an MUA for your shoot! A MUA also helps give you a more vibrant look and minimizes the retouching that may need to be done after your session. A lot of people don't want to hire an MUA because it's another expense, but it's actually an investment. Because photographers and make-up artists go together like peanut butter and jelly! Plus, you want to maximize your images especially if you're using them for your marketing materials. You can book photography and make-up together, all at once on my scheduling app and the MUA will come directly to the studio for your session. The standard session will be two hours in duration. One hour for make-up and one hour for photography!
